Collection contains records of events and exhibits related to the internment of Japanese Americans at Camp Tule Lake, CA, between Oct. 1943 and Oct. 1945. Includes copies of official files of the headquarters of the 752nd Military Police Battalion. Also includes biographical materials related to Col. Verne Austin and personal correspondence. Also contains scattered issues of the following newspapers published in the Tule Lake relocation Center: The Tulean dispatch, Newell star, and Tsurureiki shimpô. The oversize box contains 2 scrapbooks.

The Japanese American Research Project (originally named the Issei History Project) was initiated by Wakamatsu Shigeo, President of the Japanese American citizens League (JACL) in 1960.
